Hello and thank you so much for visiting my Rethink fundraising page. 

 

I've been privileged to meet so many wonderful and inspiring people whilst working in mental health care – running the marathon for Rethink is a small way of saying thanks and of giving something back.

 

 

Rethink are the leading national mental health charity and work to help everyone affected by severe mental illness recover a better quality of life. They help around 7,500 people every day of the year through their services and support groups; and give a voice to people affected by severe mental illness and their carers. Rethink believe passionately that people who experience severe mental illness are entitled to be treated with respect and as equal citizens. They actively campaign for change through greater awareness and understanding and are dedicated to creating a world where prejudice and stigma are eliminated. More years of good quality life are lost through mental illness than through cancer, yet cancer research receives five times more funding than mental health in the UK. One in four of us will experience a mental health problem this year and it really could be any one of us - mental illness does not discriminate. Given such statistics it is very likely that mental illness will touch all of our lives in some way, either personally or through loved ones and friends. All contributions, no matter their size, are gratefully received.
