Marie Curie are the official sponsors of this year's Great North Run, a Charity that is very close to my heart.

My Mam Adeline was diagnosed with Cancer of the Larynx in 2005, after treatment she came through her ordeal with flying colours.  In March 2007 she was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer, this time it was terminal, again Mam battled through this terrible illness with grace.  Sadly in December 2007 we were told that the Cancer had spread to her brain and in a matter of weeks it had rendered her paralyzed requiring 24 hour care.  My sister Lorraine and I nursed Mam at home but we couldn't have done this without the help of Marie Cure Cancer Care.  So, because of this amazing Charity my Mam was able to die at home with dignity surrounded by family, friends and her Dog and Cat which she loved so dearly!  So please help me raise as much money as possible and allow someone you love to be given the CHOICE to die at home.
