Story
Please note - due to the snow in January the race has been postponed until Easter Monday (25th April) and I am still taking part so there's plenty of time to make a donation.
Dancing with Chiltern Hundreds in Maldon, Essex earlier this year, one of the girls, Bessie, told me of the annual Maldon Mud Race where 250 brave souls race across and back over the Blackwater estuary at low tide just after Christmas. It struck me as being a typically eccentric English thing to do.
On a less jolly note, my brother-in-law, Steve, who passed away on Friday 13th August was supported through the later stages of cancer by the wonderful nurses from Macmillan. I thought the very least I could do was to try and raise some money to support Macmillan nurses in the work that they do supporting thousands of terminally ill people every year.
I have therefore registered to run the Maldon Mud Race on 28th December (now 25th April) and would be very grateful for any donation you are willing and able to give.
I originally set the very low target of £100 but doubled that in a couple of days. I then raised the target to £500 and have now exceeded that. Anything raised will be divided between Macmillan Nurses and the Mud Race nominated charities.
I thank you in advance for reading this and your generosity in supporting me and the Macmillan Nurses.
