Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page in memory of Jill Oliver (née Wardle).

I am taking part in the BUPA Great Manchester Run on Sunday 18th May 2008 to raise money for the East Cheshire Hospice.  Jill sadly lost her fight to Breast Cancer and passed away in January this year.  The staff at the East Cheshire Hospice cared for Jill and gave both Jill and her husband, Chris, the best help and support possible.

Jill was an enthusiastic supporter of the Macc Town football club for over 40 years; her father John Wardle was a director for the club in the 60’s.  Jill supported them at home matches even during her fatiguing Chemotherapy treatment, standing for the whole match telling Chris “Proper football supporters always stand up!”.

The club held a minute applause for Jill at the Moss Rose football ground (at the Peterborough game) on 23rd February this year and wrote a special tribute to her in their programme.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure; just press the ‘Donate Now’ button. It is also the most efficient way to donate:
East Cheshire Hospice will receive your money electronically.  Don't forget, if you are ataxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

If you would prefer to donate offline, on a traditional sponsorship form, please see Chris Oliver who has a sponsorship form from the hospice.  (Chris can also pass on any messages you would like to add to this page.)

Please donate generously.  Even a few pounds makes a big difference as every penny helps the hospice to support people (and their families) suffering from life-limiting diseases.

Thank you to everyone for your kind messages and support.

Hi Chris,

I was really sorry to hear about Jill. A friend of ours is being treated at the moment for Breast Cancer and a friend of ours died 2 years ago - both relatively young people like Jill. So I'll love to help. I'm in the Give As You Earn scheme, for which I've got a cheque book. I can't enter an amount online; but I'll bring in a cheque for £100 tomorrow.

Thanks Paul
