When my fifth FLM ballot rejection fleece hit the doormat in October, I knew that it was time to choose a different route into the marathon - now or never my body clock told me! I am delighted that Macmillan Cancer Support were able to offer me a place.

A life long ambition about to be fulfilled, I can only say thank you to those who have supported me in my quest to get fit enough to do the big 26.2m. To Jo C and Paula for churning out the miles with me; to npower for their fantastic facilities and amazing approach to wellbeing at work; to Zoe and Andy and all at the npower running club for leading the way; to my boss, Gary, for his support and inspiration (no, I won't beat your time); to Jules for her faith in me and of course to Jas, Tom and Charlie for putting up with me disappearing for hours on end (and then not being able to move when I get back in!).

Last but not least, to Macmillan Cancer Support for giving me this opportunity. I am humbled at the prospect of running to support such an amazing charity and I hope I will do justice to the challenge.
