Story
Hi there,
Mélaine Innocent Schreiber passed away on 11th August 2008 after a shockingly short-seeming 6-month battle with NK & T-cell Lymphoma, a subcategory of Leukaemia. After the beautiful memorial service for Mélaine in August we were keen to do something to raise funds for Leukaemia Research. Seeing as her baby brother Luc was already a keen cyclist and Pete was on a fitness kick, we quickly settled on the famous "End-to-End" or John O'Groats to Lands End, from one end of Britain to the other. We are also, somewhat masochistically, doing the "hard" version of the trip, riding into the wind.
We will be completing this epic journey in April 2009, riding some 1,000 miles in 12 cycling days, completing an average of over 80 miles a day, to raise funds for Leukaemia Research in memory of Mélaine.
Whether or not your life was touched by Mélaine, Leukaemia Research is a fantastic charity that works hard to improve the survival chances of as many of the 24,500 people diagnosed with blood cancers each year. The charity receives no Government grants and needs to raise more than £100mio over the next 5 years to be able to maintain its investment in its ongoing diagnosis of blood disorders and patient treatments, trying to find a cure for cancers of the blood.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Leukaemia Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
