You have arrived at Ian, Trevor, Rodger, Andy, Huw and Martin’s Just Giving fund raising page for our JOGLE cycle challenge in 2011.

JOGLE (or even LEJOG) is something that has always interested one or two of us, so now is as good a time as any, after all we are not getting any younger. We are doing JOGLE instead of the other way because we figure it is going to be a bit easier to get home from Cornwall than the highlands of Scotland.

We are going to start on the 22^nd May 2011 and take approximately 12 days to do the ride, roughly 80 miles a day. This will hopefully give us enough time to take in the sights and of course stop for a few pub lunches along the way. We are being supported along the way by Andy who will drive the support vehicle.

We are still in the early stages of the plan, but we have agreed the direction (North to South), the  Charity we will be riding for (CLIC Sargent), and our initial travel thoughts.  The exact route, fundraising targets and required kit list being worked on currently. 

We will update this page with the details of the route etc as it is agreed.

All about CLIC Sargent

Every day 10 families are told that their child has cancer. Diagnosis often comes as a shock. Treatment usually starts straightaway and can last up to three years.

As the children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent is there… with clinical, practical and emotional support, every step of the way.

CLIC Sargent depends almost entirely on voluntary donations from kind people like you, to fund their services for children and young people with cancer.

Here’s how the money we raise will really make a difference...

£50 means CLIC Sargent could be there soon after  diagnosis, to explain about cancer and what treatment may be given.

£90 could pay for a support group for brothers and sisters of children on treatment – to help them cope during this time.

£200 could pay for a Community Support Grant to help  families meet the cost of any extra support they might need to maintain normal life – like childcare, home help, ironing,  shopping and so on.

£400 could pay for accommodation for a family at a CLIC  Sargent Home from Home for a fortnight. Where they can stay together within walking distance of the hospital where their child is being treated, which is often many miles from their own home.

£950 could pay for a specialist break for a bereaved family,  allowing them to spend time together and with other bereaved  families. Talking to people who understand, in a sensitive,  supportive environment, can provide real comfort.

£10,000 could pay for the running costs and site fees for their holiday caravans for half a year. Families in desperate need  of a break can stay in a self-contained caravan in a  well-equipped holiday park near the coast.

So please dig deep and donate now.
