Story
Dear All
Some imortant facts about the London Marathon:
The total distance is 26 miles, or for those more progressive people thats 42,154 meters (or 3,500 London buses).
The slowest person to run the marathon was Lloyd Scott, who ran in a 110lb deep sea diving suit, completing it in 5 days, 8 hours (why you say - pass!).
In 2005 Paula Radcliffe was caught short and had to stop and relieve herself mid-race.
An average person will sweat 120 ounces or 3.2 kilos.
There are 500 toilets on the route and over 35,000 runners. That equates to one toilet for every 70 people running, which when combined with approx 3 liters of liquid consumption is a recipe for disatster if you ask me.
So with that said I am comfortable that I should at least beat Lloyd Scott by a whole minute, am looking for volunteers to pull my sweaty socks off and am also looking for volunteers to bar the portaloos at strategic places for when I need them (its not a nice job but someone has to do it!).
Some important information about the charity
Running a marathon I suspect is without doubt one of lifes great journeys. It certainly has a lot of pain and effort, and there will be times I am sure when the body and brain will be telling me to quit, however for the people who visit and work at the Childrens Trust they do not have the luxury of this choice and for me that is my simple motivation.
Learning about what The Childrens Trust does is a very humbling experience. They provide care for children with disabilities as well as running the internationally aclaimed rehabilitation centre for children with acquired brain injuries. This is the last thing any person would want to see happen to a child so is something we can all relate to.
I appreciate any contribution you can spare for the Trust. Thank you.
