Story
In 2007 I was introduced to Whizz-Kidz, a charity dedicated to transforming the lives of disabled children in the UK. Like you I’m lucky enough to be able to swim, bike, run, and more, so accepted the massive challenge to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, raising funds to help children who cannot even walk.
I’ve decided it’s my turn again to help this wonderful charity and the amazing children it supports, my challenge (despite my old age and ever-creaky joints) is to run my first ever marathon. Yes it will be very painful, but I’m sure you’ll agree that being able to help enrich disabled children’s lives by getting them mobile with a wheelchair and equipment that meets their specific needs is the least we can do.
Here's a look at what your donation could provide:
£100 provides vital additional parts which will extend the life of a young person’s wheelchair, enabling Whizz-Kidz to adjust and modify equipment as a child grows or their needs change.
£1,000 provides an adapted trike for a disabled child. Adapted trikes give children a safe and fun way to exercise, plus the chance to develop friendships and build their confidence.
£5,000 provides a powered wheelchair, helping a child to become mobile, participate fully at school and in social activities and enabling them to keep up with siblings and classmates. Specialist features like seat-risers enable young people to enjoy life-changing independence, such as helping them reach the book they want from a shelf, or speak to their peers at eye level.
Very importantly, if you are a UK taxpayer an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Please dig deeply and sponsor me to run my first (and probably last) ever marathon.
Many thanks for your generous support!
