Story
Hi,
Thank you very much for visiting my fundraising page :)
As you probably know, I successfully completed the Flora London Marathon on April 22nd to raise money for Samaritans, in a time of 4 hours, 31 minutes and 47 seconds - a very creditable effort given the conditions, I'm sure you will agree.
This website will be open until 22nd June so please keep the donations coming - they all add up. I am delighted and very proud to have raised over £2000 for such an important charity.
I only started running in 2005 when I trained for, and completed, the Swindon half marathon. In 2006 I competed in 9 half marathons, various 10k and 5-mile races, and my first full marathon. When you consider I could barely run more than a few miles at the outset, I think you'll agree this is no mean feat.
And when you consider I was once the kid who came last at cross-country in school, I think you'll agree running a marathon later in life is an outstanding effort.
I feel that Samaritans provides an invaluable service for a lot of people who need confidential support at a time of crisis, and am very proud to be part of their team.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Samaritans will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many, many thanks for your support - it really is appreciated.
Best wishes, Jon
