700 mile Charity Walk · 22 February 2009

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. On 17th May Jenny and I will start the 700 mile walk from Lowestoft to Lands End to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Parkinson's Disease Society. The latter is dear to Jos's heart having lost his father to the disease as well as another friend and having another family member suffering from this debilitating disease.

17/6/09 We are off this Sunday and are really looking forward to the "off". Thanks to everyone who has donated to our two charities, we are now at the half way stage towards our targets. We will update the news in the second week in June when we are close to a computer again!

7/6/09 Back to sing in a splendid Verdi Requiem, a Haydn Creation and we resume the walk next Sunday, 14/6/09. All going to schedule and apart from sore legs as usual all is going well for us two 70 year olds! More details when we finish in the second week in July.

20/6/09 Going well, we have just had a couple of tough days, one with poor weather and difficult map reading coming in to Lyme Regis and the second walking from Lyme Regis to Sidmouth with many steep ups and downs. Both were 17 miles so we are keeping the average up! Luckily we have stayed with several friends and relations on this second section so far but from Brixham it will be b & b's all the way. A friend is joining us for several days and is doing some fund raising for us so with promises made "when you complete your walk" things are looking hopeful.

8/07/09 We finished the walk on schedule, just had time to have the requisite photo taken, scrambled for the bus and train and got back to Alveston late that night, tired but having had a wonderful walk. People were incredibly kind to us and interested in our walk and as ever the countryside was beautiful. We know that there have been problems with donating on the website but hope that if you are trying you will persist as justgiving are trying hard to get the redesigned website working. Thank you all for your donations and kindness towards us!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Parkinson's Disease Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now! Jenny has her own fundraising page for Macmillan Cancer Support at
