Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As my BIG birthday approaches I really don’t want presents, instead I would love you to help me give something back to others less fortunate.
I never knew Rosie May, but as a teenager Graham, her father, was one of my close friends. This was before social media, so inevitably once I married and moved away from Nottingham to Yorkshire we lost touch.
We both went on with our lives, Graham married Mary and they had three lovely children, two sons and a daughter Rosie May. Steven, my ex, and I had two beautiful daughters Rachael and Hannah. Then one Sunday in 2004 whilst flicking through the Sunday papers I read the most devastating story - Rosie May had been murdered.
What resonated most with me though was that Rosie May was only a few months older than Hannah. It’s every parent’s nightmare to lose a child and I could only image the pain Graham and Mary were going through.
However, although it was some years later before I found Graham on Facebook I was able to read about the remarkable way Graham and Mary coped with their grief. They are nothing but an amazing and wonderful couple. From a family charity they have grown the Rosie May foundation into an international children’s charity. You can read their story at www.rosie-may.com
Your donation will not only help the Rosie May Foundation achieve their vision of
‘A world in which every child grows up within a safe, nurturing family and has a positive future’
but will also make my BIG birthday one to remember.
