Story

Dear Friends,

On February 19th, 2006 I succeeded in reaching the top of Mount Kilimanjaro - the Roof of Africa. This was a major challenge for me, both physically and mentally.  It proved to be eight hours of gruelling summit attempt following four days of arduous trekking.   However the exhilaration on looking down into the crater was amazing - even on very little oxygen at nearly 20,000 feet!!

But I have also wanted to benefit animal welfare in Africa, and thus human welfare, through my efforts.  Unlike most "Sponsored Charity Events", I have paid all the expenses of this trip myself so every penny you contribute in sponsorship will go directly to my chosen charity, the RCVS Trust.

Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Your contribution will specifically help to fund important veterinary research and teaching projects for the improvement of animal health and welfare in Africa.

The Trust is currently supporting several such projects including a critical study of cryptosporidium in wildlife, cattle and humans in Uganda, and CPD programmes for vets and livestock advisers in Eritrea. Through your sponsorship, we will be able to support yet more of these projects which bring amazing benefits for a relatively small investment. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RCVS Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support and wish me luck as I aim for the rooftop of Africa. Yours Judy
