Story
Julie was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in 2004. A devastating thing to happen to one so young. She decided at that point with whatever time she had left was going to be her new life. She joined the hospice at Rose Hill when she had finished her radiotherapy as a day patient and became totally consumed by everything the hospice stood for. She became actively involved with fundraising and volunteering and it made such an impact on her life that she believed that others should also be able to share in its 'magic', as she called it.
I, as Julie's husband, discovered the 'magic' when sadly Julie became very ill in April 2008 and was admitted onto the In-patient Unit at the hospice and I realised during those last five weeks what Julie had been so passionate about. The love and the care that not only Julie received but the entire family was very special and we will never forget the support we had and are continuing to have weeks later.
So starting this Forget me Not Fund is a wonderful way to honour Julie and to ensure the 'magic' never dies.
