Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m running the Chester Half Marathon on Sunday 16th May to raise money for the Berwick-Upon-Tweed Chemotherapy Unit. I’m aiming to improve on my Liverpool half marathon time of 1hr 50mins and 9 seconds and go sub 1hr 50 at my third half marathon attempt... nine seconds may not seem like much, but believe me the 13.05 miles before it is!!
For those of you who may not know, Berwick-Upon-Tweed is my home town, located in rural north Northumberland (not Scotland!). Opened in 2008, Berwick Chemotherapy Unit is a nurse led unit that provides treatment for cancer patients in Berwick and the surrounding area. Without this service, local patients have to make a 110 mile round trip to receive their treatment in other hospitals. For my family and many other local Berwick people dealing with cancer, this local facility has been a god send, reducing the time, stress and cost associated with driving 55 miles before and after treatment. The money I’m hoping to raise will go towards maintaining and improving the facilities of the unit so other patients and their families can benefit from being treated locally.
Please note, Northumbria NHS Trust ensure all funds raised on this site are directed to the Berwick Chemo Unit by allocating a unique “project” code to all donations. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money direct to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed where applicable. So it's the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Bright Northumbria is the charity of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, providing support to the trust's hospitals and community services provided across North Tyneside and Northumberland.
