We help people facing terminal illness to have the best quality of life possible

Story

Hi there

Yippee, Chemo is finished!  Just need to get through the low imune system bit and then it is onto Radiotherapy.  I have now shaved my head 4 times and may have to do it one more time so that it can all grow back at the same time!

I have been using the clothes roller each day to stop myself looking like I have hairy dandruff.   I have tried to upload a new picture and for some reason it doesn't want to.  I have worn the odd head scarf, but one had diamontes on it and I ended up with indentations in my head, and I also feel more self-concious wearing a head scarf than I do without.

Anyway, all this has been done in aid of a good cause, which is to raise money for St Luke's Hospice.

Charles Daniels the consultant who cared for my mum there said an amazing thing the day after I knew I was going for my biopsy (he didn't know I was having one).  Anyway, he said that when people hear the word Cancer they think death, when in reality many other much more debilitating diseases don't make you think the same thing.  I know I will be fine after all the treatment, but others (including patients with other diseases) are not as lucky as me and need help to get their pain managed, improve their quality of life, enjoy the time they have with dignity and grace.  St Luke's provides all of this and more.

As you know both my mum and dad were cared for by St Luke's and I have endless thanks and gratitude for the the help that they have given to me and my whole family.  It is truly a privilege to be a Trustee working with everyone to ensure the continued success of the Hospice and the help it gives to our community.

So I am asking, begging, pleading for you to help me reach and exceed the target I have set my self of £4,000 for St Luke's.  Which we have now done, but am always happy to have more.   As I continue to go through my radio therapy, knowing that something good (apart from making sure I don't get cancer again!) can come out of it, will make the process much easier and in a strange sort of way more satisfying for me.  So every penny you give will cheer me up no end.

If I cannot get you to make a donation to St Luke's now, I guess I never will.  So go on do it!

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
