Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I'm running the London Marathon on April 23rd (26.2 miles!) on behalf of The Attlee Foundation.

The Attlee Foundation aims to initiate projects that help young people fulfill their potential, particularly those disadvantaged by povery or lack of opportunity. They run the Attlee Adventure Playground, an inner-city oasis for children living in Spitalfields East London, one of the most deprived wards in Britain. Many of the children in this borough come from poor households that struggle to afford basic necessities, let alone leisure activities.

The playground has been use for 20 years and, facing the threat of closure, is in desperate need of refurbishment and modernisation. This is currently being re-developed into a multi-purpose Youth and Community Centre with many new facilities including outdoor sports pitches, and IT area and a sensory garden. The re-development scheme will cost approx £2.75m and will provide children with and without disabilities an essential safe place to play, get advice, do their homework and meet up with friends.

Your donation, whatever its size, will make a real difference to children and young people with and without disabilities in Tower Hamlets and help to revitalise a deprived inner-city community.

Many many thanks for your support!!

About the charity

The Attlee Centre was set up by the Attlee Foundation to commemorate Clement Attlee's life, work and achievements through piloting projects that benefit the people he cared most about - those disadvantaged by poverty, disability or lack of opportunity, particularly children and young people.
