Story
Hi,
As most of you are aware I successfully completed the Great North run on Sunday, my official time was 02:24:00!! However I had to make a quick 5 minute visit to an ambulance to get my knee bandaged up due to an injury coming back to haunt me.. Luckily the bandaged knee held up for the last couple of miles which meant I could finish without being carried ...
I had a great day, the atmosphere was fantastic and it was great to see so many people running for good causes.
So a huge thank you to everyone who has donated - your generosity and support means so much!! With your help I have raised just over £600 in total for The Stroke Association so far.
And a special THANK YOU to my wonderful family who travelled to support me and my sister on the big day!!!
Katherine
p.s. Another well done to Vicki who completed the course in 01:52, very proud of you!!

Hi
On Sunday 5th October I will be taking part in the 28th Great North run which is a 13.1 mile run starting in Newcastle and finishing in South Shields. I actually secured a place in the 2007 run but had to pull out due to ill health. So I deferred my place to this year and all of a sudden it's only 4 weeks away.. The intensive training has started and hopefully I will be able to finish the race in less than 2hrs and 15 mins .
I have chosen to run for The Stroke Association as it is a charity that deals with a condition that affected my family deeply. My Dad has a massive stroke in 2001, aged 53, which he eventually lost his fight against and passed away. It was a great shock to us all as he was fit and healthy and there were no warning signs.
Every year, an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, including children and even babies. A stroke is the third most common cause of death in the UK and is also the leading cause of severe disability.
The Stroke Association rely on voluntary income to be able to provide support through their Community or Information Services, fund pioneering research campaigning and provide welfare grants to help improve the quality of stroke survivors lives. Therefore the money you pledge will go towards making someone's life much more comfortable.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Stroke Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
Thank you
Katherine
