Story

Hey, Welcome to my fundraising page, i would like to say a big Thank You to you all for taking your time to visit!!

Ive done it - i ran the 10k - what a fab day it was and im still here, in somewhat a bit of discomfort but still alive and kicking!! I would like to say a huge big thankyou to all my friends, family, colleagues for sponsoring me and not forgetting the lovely Murdo, all for helping with the fundraising efforts for this charity! Im sure Lizzie will be well chuffed!

Donations can still be made up until the 10th of august.

Results and pictures will be published for the race tomorrow (11th may) in the Evening Times and i will also be on a gaelic news channel at sum point, i got a big camera pointed into my sweaty face after the race and said a few words, i'll let you know when its on!!

Just to let you know I am participating in what is currently known as the Ignis Asset Management Women's 10k 2009, taking place in Glasgow on 10th May 2009, to raise funds for the Scottish Huntingtons Association.

All funds raised will be donated to the Fife Family Branch. There is  a higher incidence of Huntington's Disease in the Fife Area, which is about 1 in every 6500, compared with about 1 in every 10,000 in the rest of Scotland.  I would very much appreciate if you could take a few moments to donate just a small amount in support of this cause.

Huntington's disease is a progressive degenerative neurological disorder, a disease that affects the part of the brain that controls thinking, emotion, and movement. Most people who have the disease start to see symptoms between the ages of 30 and 50, every person who has HD is born healthy and lives normal lives until symptoms set in.

HD causes total physical and mental deterioration over a 12-15 year period with symptoms including poor memory, depression and/or mood swings, lack of coordination, twitching or other uncontrolled movements, and difficulty walking, speaking, and/or swallowing. In the late stages of the disease, a person will need help doing even simple tasks, such as getting dressed.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Scottish Huntington's Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now and see you at the finish line!
