Did it!!! What a night! I really was not at all sure what the weather would do but in the end it was exactly as I prayed it would be, cool and dry. As I was in the first group to get away, I crossed the start line at 11.15p.m. on Saturday night, and crossed the finish line on Sunday morning at 7.25 a.m., my earliest finish ever, and that included comfort breaks, so I am very pleased with my time. Back, hips, thighs, knees, calves, ankles, feet, everything was sore the whole of Sunday. Monday morning finds me sore only in my right foot and knee, so I will take things relatively easily this week, and see how they settle down. A huge thank you to all who donated, wished me well, texted and emailed me their thoughts, before, during and after my walk, you all walked every step with me, I could not have done it without all that support.and I am grateful from the bottom of my heart. Please check my website in a couple of weeks time, after I have managed to get together all the funds collected "offline" to get our final tally of donations made. Of course, my website is also still accepting online donations, so if you would still like to give, please feel free!! All my love, Kath XXX
Well, my final long training walk is done (21 miles in 7 hours flat, I am very happy with that) and now its all systems go for Saturday night. My legs and feet seem to be holding up, just have to make sure my head is with me for 26 miles! Thanks to all of you who have already donated, it really is much appreciated. I will let all of you know how things go after Saturday, wish me luck!!! Lovies, Kath. X
It's that time again! We are counting down to midnight on Saturday 16 May 2009.
For those of you who are not familiar, the Moonwalk is a 26 mile marathon (literally!) walk through the streets of London. 15,000 of us (14,000 of whom are female!) take it upon ourselves to start at midnight at Hyde Park, clad in not much more than our (usually beautifully decorated) bras and set off to walk 26 miles up hill and down dale (well, as close as we get to it in "The Smoke") in the hope that lots of our family, friends, work colleagues, random strangers (!) will pledge their support for us in our efforts to raise valuable funds for the Breast Cancer Charity.
I am sure many of us have direct or close acquaintance with this dreadful disease, and I have to say that I only Walk The Walk for selfish reasons. If it decided to knock on my door, I would want someone walking for me!!!
This year is my fifth Moonwalk "on the bounce"!! To those of you who have sponsored me (so generously) for my previous efforts, my heartfelt thanks, and I hope you can find it in your hearts to dig deep once again. To those of you who have not, please donate what you can.
So please dig deep everybody, and please do come back to visit this website every so often, I will keep you "abreast" of my progress!! (Sorry, couldn't resist!!!)
If you are interested in getting an idea of what we get up to, please check the website at www.walkthewalk.org. As you can see, besides having to walk 26 miles, it's a hoot of a night!!!
Much love to all
Kath
