On the 31st of August I will be beginning my ascent of one of Africa’s greatest challenges: Kilimanjaro. Kilimanjaro means “little shiny mountain”. At 19341 feet (almost 6000 metres), it doesn’t sound very little to me!
I am climbing for 2 charities close to my heart; Meningitis Research Foundation, for my sister Ruth, and the breast cancer division of Cancer Research UK, to support my friend Sally in overcoming breast cancer.
In true Yorkshire spirit, I have paid for the trip myself. This means that 100% of your donations (plus the gift aid – please tick if you are a tax payer) will be split equally between the two charities.
Michael Palin is currently unavailable, strolling through the Himalayas, so my companion on this trip, is Greg Heath. Greg has given up the 2 wheels of his beloved Ducati, and has donated his legs for this 10 day expedition (he couldn’t manage 80 days without the bike!). www.justgiving.co.uk/gregheath.
I’m training hard, and am looking forwards to reaching the summit (a little less busy than the M62, I hope).
I’d appreciate your support over the next few months as I prepare for this challenge!
Thank you.
Kay
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Meningitis Research Foundation and Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
