Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am really pleased to have this opportunity to support the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre. Alastair Hignell, the Patron of the MSRC and an MS sufferer, was an outstanding games player - in particular on the rugby field, which is where I first met him.
My arm was genially twisted last summer by Joe Davies, a Cambridge rugby team mate of Alastair's and a fellow headmaster. Joe's aim was to get as many of the old crocks who played in the 1978 rugby Varsity match to run as 'Higgy's Heroes' in the Flora London Marathon on April 13th. In the event Joe, Eddie Butler and I are the only players from that match with such scant regard for our ageing bodies to agree to run. Happily, two fitter and younger local men - Simon Williams (Head of Churchers College, which is a near neighbour of my school, Bedales) and Dr. Andy Cairns - are also joining 'Higgy's Heroes' who will number 10 in all.
Moony Budge (my wife) is also running on 13th April for Save the Children Fund. She has been selected (against formidable opposition of course) as my training partner. Do visit her justgiving page at http://www.justgiving.com/moonybudge but only after you've signed up to sponsor me! To add to the pain, we are both sponsoring each other: £350 each now and a further £150 each if we survive. We will be spurred on in our training all the more in these dark winter days knowing that we have a growing level of support from you generous people.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
