In Sepetember 2007 my Nan sadly passed away from Motor Neurone Disease 18 months after initially being diagnosed.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing.
Initially Nan suffered from loss of coordination, use of one of her arms and the occaisional fall. She then quickly deteriated to the point that in her final few months she had lost use of her whole body and required 24/7 care. Throughout the progression of the disease her brain remained unaffected which meant it was like she was a prisioner in her own body.
The cause for this disease is unknow and there is no cure. The only outcome is death.
I was inspired by this years London Marathon so have decided to run the Virgin London 2010 Marathon. I have never done anything like this before and I am asking for your support to help me raise £3,000 to help ease the suffering of people with this terrible disease.
Please donate whatever you can and Justgiving will make sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
