Story

Hi

I am running the BUPA Great Manchester Run for my mum, Joyce, who was diagnosed with Alzheimers at 56.  Prior to this she was a very social lady who really enjoyed work and loved to chat, especially about her 2 daughters. Unfortunately one of the first things that was affected by the disease was my mum's speech. This was particularly devastating as this not only affected her socially but it also meant that she had to give up work at very short notice. Now at 62 she can no longer do any of the daily tasks that we all take for granted and sadly has never been able to enjoy the grand children that she greatly longed for. My father currently provides the 24hr care that she requires and she attends an Alzheimers day care centre twice a week.

This disease is terribly debilitating in every sense and has had a profound affect on both my mum and our family.  The Alzheimer's Society has provided essential support through this extremely difficult time. At this time there is no cure for this dreadful disease, hopefully your donations will help with research in this area and provide care and support to the other people that are affected by Alzheimers.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
