Story
The Tonk Clarkson Fund has been set up in memory of Tony Clarkson who passed away on 6 june 2012 with a rare malignant brain tumour. Tony only found out he had his tumour 5 months prior to this when he suffered a sudden onset of headaches and sickness which were thought to be migraines, until this point he had no other health problems to suggest he had a cancerous tumour. The fund has been set up by his wife Kerry Clarkson through the Samantha Dickinson Brain Tumour Trust (SDBTT) who are a registered charity that allow individuals to raise money in memory of their loved ones with their support. All money raised for Tonk Clarkson Fund goes into his own charity account within the SDBTT, they use the money raised to fund vital research and help families who are diagnosed with brain tumours. All support is gratefully received and any donations towards raffles and fundraising will be really appreciated.
For further information please contact kerry Clarkson on 01226 712838 or direct to SDBTT as below.
Brain tumours
• Around 6,500 people each year are diagnosed with a brain tumour in the UK, including 450 children.
• There are around 100 different types of brain tumour according to the World Health Organisation classification.
• Brain tumours receive a fraction of the funding of higher profile cancers—figures from the National Cancer.
Research Institute show that less than 2% of the UK cancer research spend goes towards brain tumour research.
• Therefore, more funds are urgently needed to help us invest to improve understanding, diagnosis and treatment of brain tumours.
