Story
Many thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Why I'm doing it....
My father died of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 1997, so the main reason for entering this event and raising the money is as a tribute to him and also I hope that it might assist other MND sufferers. MND is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. MND is not a disease I had heard of until it affected my dad but since then unfortunately a very good friend and two acquaintances have also sadly died of it.
What I'm doing....
On a lighter note and a bit more about my challenge....and it is a BIG challenge to me! It is a 100KM (60 mile run) over four days in the Yucatan peninsular of Mexico taking place in the mddle of November. 20 people are taking part for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and I'm sure they are probably, younger, fitter and stronger than me! So in appreciation of my courage (or stupidity!) and if you want me to suffer and hurt a lot in pursuit of my challenge but more importantly for a really great and very worthwhile charity, please pledge your money generously.
Thank you in advance for all your kind generosity and support - wish me luck!!
Best regards,
Kevin
