We fund life-changing and life-saving work to support cancer patients at The Christie

Story

This fund has been set up in memory of Kev McLaughlin.  Anyone who knew Kev will already know what a special person he was.  He was a devoted father to our four children Rob, Jordan, Callum and Kacey.  In testament to this Rob is one of our  team of bike riders.  I would like to thank our family and friends who have helped us raise this money either by participating, sponsoring or offering their support.

All the money raised will go to Christies Hospital in Kev's name and I can only hope that we can raise enough money to give at least one family any extra happiness together, as we personally had an extra three years together which we would never have had without Christies.  They will never be forgotten.

Many, many thanks.

Training updates below........................

15/07/08 - WELL DONE! Congratulations to everybody. All of our team managed to make it over the finish line all in one piece.  Well done to Mike who managed to make it to Blackpool first,  in time to wave us all in.

The after the race event at the Poacher was a huge success.  I think the beer helped numb the pain.  Early estimates indicate we have raised our target of five thousand pounds and hopefully when final figures are confirmed this will be nearer the six thousand pound mark.   I hope everybody enjoyed the day as much as I did.  It just goes to show  -  all the fun we have had training and during the race and yet we have managed to do some good along the way.

Finally, I just want to say a huge thank you to everybody who either took part in the race or helped us along the way and for all our generous sponsors.

Thank you everybody.

Love   Jayne & Rob.   x

P.S.  Same time next year?  xxx

09/07/08 - Well only a few days to go, everyone is prepared (as they can be!!!).  Good Luck to everyone - see you at the finish line.

23/06/08 - Naming names worked (or it could be a coincidence) but rumour has it that Fella has been seen out and about on 2 wheels (ha ha! sorry Mike).

Now at 3 weeks and counting - keep up the good work - no slacking off!

10/06/08 - Training going well - quite are few are up to 30 miles, some up to nearly 50 and 2 at 64 miles!!! Some haven't even started yet - yes Fella thats you!!  Everyone still having fun and the local is doing great business for those  post training sessions!

19/05/08 - 5 of the team have now reached 48 miles and 1 has done the magic 60 but is aiming to go for the full 62 this weekend - told you he was keen!  Can't name names as don't want to put pressure on anyone but only getting feedback from about 6 of you - so come on let us know how you are going or I'll start naming names!

13/05/08 - Well another weekend and more training - although it always seems to end in the pub - all that bike riding builds up a thirst!!  Keep up the good work

29/04/08 - Mike has done 45 miles - boy is he prepared:-)!!!  Oh and some people haven't even got their bikes out from the garage yet - you know who you are:-)

28/04/08 - Training update - All going well at the moment - a couple of sore rears (but less said about the better:-)  ).

Some of the team have managed to do 30 miles in training which is brill -  Will keep you all posted - check back for more.
