Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
In Dublin, on 10 November 2003 , my younger brother Reg decided to take his own life, leaving behind his wife Denise , 4 young children and many other friends and family.
We now know that Reg had been suffering from a progressive form of depression but sadly had not realised it or, if he did, had not known how or where to ask for help. Needless to say, the process of coming to terms with this tragedy has been difficult for everyone who knew Reg.
Having wanted to do something memorable as part of the healing process , I have been able to secure a place in the NEW YORK MARATHON through a leading mental health charity called MIND.The race is on 5th November 2006 ( 3rd anniversary of Reg's death ) and will be my first Marathon.
I have set myself the personal challenge of not only completing the Marathon but of raising as much as possible for MIND in the hope that others will benefit and get the help they need. Your donation, however small or LARGE, will help me to achieve this.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mind The Mental Health Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
The Family will be very grateful for your support.
Many thanks
Geoff
