Story
Hi everyone!
We did it! We set off at 6.30am Saturday morning to make our way to the Lamb and Flag pub, in Oxfordshire. We met up with the other walkers and were taken by mini bus to where we would start our trek across fields along the Thames.
We set off at 9.30am and completed our 13 mile route 6 hours later. We encountered herds of cows, stinging nettles as high as your head and at some points we had no choice but to wade through water up to our knees where the Thames had burst its banks from Friday's downpours.
We had great fun and have come away with some lasting memories, a stiff hip, two groin strains and sore feet! A massive thank you to everyone who supported us!!
As many of you know our dad and dad-in-law is due to start chemotherapy again in his fight against bowel cancer. Hobbsy, Andrew and I have decided to take part in the Bobby Moore fund Thames Path Walk, to raise money for the Fund’s vital bowel cancer research.
The Thames Path Walk is a 185 mile route from the Source of the Thames in Kemble, to the Thames Barrier. We will be walking the 13 mile route from Lechlade, Oxfordshire to Duxford, Oxfordshire on Saturday, September 6th.
Bowel cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer death in the UK, sadly 44 men and women die from the disease every day. By sponsoring us to walk the Thames Path for the Bobby Moore Fund you can give others hope, a better quality of life and maybe, one day, a future free from the fear of bowel cancer.
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page, Kristy,Chris and Andrew xxx
