Lawrence Maina, now 23, raised himself on the streets, after he was forced to leave home to support the family in his early teens. His mother died young in extreme poverty, struggling to look after his younger sisters. He has never met his father.
About five years ago volunteers with Harambee Schools Kenya (HSK) began sponsoring Lawrence through school, where he did fantastically well. He has just started to study Computer Science at Nairobi University, making him to our knowledge the first Kenyan street boy of his background to reach university. To get where he is now, from where he began, is an incredible achievement.
We need £9800 to support Lawrence through his four-year course (he receives no family support or government sponsorship). By supporting Lawrence through university you will help transform his life. At the same time you will help raise the aspirations of dozens of street children in Gilgil who would otherwise think education out of their reach. Please give generously.
