We offer learning disability support to help people to live the life they want

Story

Stuart and Cherry Marshall cycled from Lands End to John O'Groats from 6th to 20th June 2009.  Just to make it more stressful, we were riding on a tandem and coping being just 1 metre apart for 2 weeks.  The logistics were handled by BikeAdventures (www.bikeadventures.co.uk) so we just need to pedal for 1000 miles.  The weather was very wet for most of the time, but the UK countrywide was wonderful, and the people we met were great.  It was tough, but breaking it down into small chunks. and focusing on the next hill, or turn, or coffee made it doable.  You can read about the trip, and see pictures, on stuart-in-bahrain.blogspot.com

When Cherry's brother Nigel was growing up in Chorleywood his condition and needs were not fully appreciated by society.  At that time Mencap was the only support organisation for people with learning disabilities.  Now Social Services in SW Herts work with Watford Mencap (www.watfordmencap.org.uk) to provide caring services for those in need.

We will be donating £1 per mile we cycle.  We will match whatever you sponsor like for like - so if you donate £50 we will contribute an additional £50.  So please sponsor us now and help Watford Mencap to continue supporting those with learning disabilities and their families.
