So please dig deep and donate now.

After several years of applying  and being rejected I have finally secured a place in this years Virgin London Marathon. My chosen charity this time again SNAP.  The people at this charity help special need and parents and devote their time to young people less fortunate than ourselves, so please show your support towards them and help raise money to keep their centre open.

Training is going well and im averaging around 30/35 miles every week and staying injury free (which make a change for me). Sunday's are my long running days and im currently doing around 15 miles. Still need to increase it slightly but not rushing just yet.

Looks like i might have spoken a bit too soon. Ive had to take time out from training as i have pulled my knee and currently finding running very painful (ouch). I hope to be back running within a week so just have to see how it goes, just when i was feeling great. I have a 10 mile race booked in for the 27th Feb so hopefully be back on track very soon. A big thank you to those who have already donated but please pass the word around and the link to this page.

only 9 weeks to go now and I cant wait. my knee seems to be getting better so im going to try a long run this sunday and if it plays me up dont worry the physio is already booked for monday. I'll let you know how I do.

Well thats another long run under my belt 2hours 28mins for 15 1/2 miles. The knee was a bit painful to begin with then after a few miles all the pain eased and I really got into my stride. Lets hope after tomorrow's session with the physio it will be even better, I think the rest done me the world of good, lets see how the week goes.

Managed to run my longest distance at the weekend 17 miles in 2hrs 45mins so it looks as though the physio worked well. Maybe have to book another one the week leading up to the marathon.  Lets see what this weekend brings at the Dunton 10 miler easy run for a change. ive nearly reached my on line target so many thanks for all your support.

Easy run is there such a thing. As soon as it started I got into my pace and managed a personal best for the distance of 1hr 27:45mins. so much for taking it easy. Struggled a bit with my knee injury and slowed down towards the end so it could have been faster but not by much. this weekend im attempting another 14 miles maybe even longer have to see how it goes.

Still managing to put the miles in at the weekend but not so much during the week. I just want to be able to complete the marathon. Only a few more weeks to go and it will all be over.

Now just 5 weeks to go and feeling confident that i will finish. Still running at least 14/15 miles at the weekend but cant seem to get past that distance, i think its just mind over matter but confident i will manage at least 19/20miles befor the day. Im very pleased with all the support ive received and cant believe I have nearly reached £500 on line. Just counting down the days now and looking forward to running through the best city in the world.

Many thanks to everyone who has donated to my charity and helped me reach my target, please dont stop there lets see if i can raise just a few more pounds for a worthy cause. With only 4 weeks to go till the big day of which means only 2 weeks of long distance running left. This weekend im going for the big mileage of 19. hopefully i shall be able to do it I shall keep you updated and let you know how i get on.

Well all went well at the weekend I went out with 2 fellow marathon runners and managed 19 miles in 3hrs 30mins so that is the longest time I have spent running. I was in a bit of discomfort on saturday but come sunday i felt fine. Looks as though the training is finally paying off. with 1 more week of long distance running to go Im looking at doing the same mileage on my own so hopefully I shall better my time. I will be pleased when its finally over. I have already said that this would be my last marathon but today I received an e mail ffrom Virgin offering me Priority booking for the 2012 London Marathon (Still thinking about it I must be mad).

April 1st just 16 days to go. Ive started to wind down my training and enjoy some more rest days. The long runs are finally over and just a few shorter distances to go. I am as ready as I will ever be and cant wait until 17th to get going and finish my last ever marathon (maybe). This will probaly be the last time that I update my page before the marathon so I would just like to give a big thank you to everyone who has taken time to donate and read my page. It means so much not only to myself but to SNAP and the family's that they care for. The money raised will benefit this charity enormously. A big thank you to my friends and family who have supported me through the tough times when i  really didnt think I would reach this point, and especially a big thank you to my wife Sue who has put up with my moaning about aches and pains over the last few months. Without all this support and encouragement I think it would have been a lot harder.

I will update again after the Marathon to let you know how got on please revisit and see the end of my journey.
