Story

Thanks for taking time to visit this JustGiving page which is to raise money for The Hunger Project; a charity that doesn't just-give but enables communities to reach out of poverty, to have ownership of developing their own financial freedom with a sustainable and productive living situation so that they can end their own hunger.

Why this is paramount: Despite sufficient resources, areas of the world are living below the poverty line. Within these communities, sacrifices have to be made. Adults are unable to provide the minimum necessities to their future generations: nutrients, energy, education, financial accessibility. Before birth, these limitations are at work with a child's growth stunted by 30%.

Therefore, The Hunger Project has set a challenge- 'live below the line for 5days' which gives a chance to raise money while you taste effects of the energy constraints poverty inflicts on our physiology. However, other conditions of a community living in poverty are not so appetising... Unfortunately females are removed from school and fed less than their male counterparts, often falling pregnant in her early teens and the vicious cycle continues...Lack of resources and food contributing to unnecessary health problems.
