We at CARE International, fight poverty to help the world’s most vulnerable people.

Story

This year a bunch of us from Lexicon are having another crack at the CARE 24 Peaks Challenge.  This will take up to 99 Peaks tackled by Lexicon teams in CARE events over the past few years - one go at the 3 Peaks along with four attempts on the 24 Peaks.

As the name suggests, the event involves climbing 24 peaks in the Lake District, all of which are over 2,400 feet, within 24 hours. The total vertical ascent is over 4,000 metres spread over a distance of more than 50 kilometres, so it makes for a fairly testing weekend regardless of the weather conditions (which, in our experience, are invariably atrocious).

This year we are delighted once more to be supporting CARE in organising the event, and are looking forward to tramping the hills with lots of other teams from the City and beyond.  We would be very grateful if you were able to add your support for CARE by sponsoring us for this event. Donating through this site is the most efficient way to sponsor us since CARE will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

CARE International is one of the world’s leading aid agencies working in over 80 countries around the globe. We seek a world of hope, tolerance and social justice, with women and girls at the centre, where poverty has been overcome, and people live with equal opportunities in security and dignity.
