Story
Well we are just about recovered and wanted to say a big thankyou for your support, with your help we've raised £1,990.56, plus our work will match circa another £1200.
It was a very hot day and an unbelievable experience, not necessarily one we will be repeating anytime soon!
Thanks again, it was immensely motivating at times when we were struggling during the marathon to remember how much support and generosity there was.

In memory of Lucy and for the Orange Men of the Forest, their Communities, The Rainforest, Biodiversity and our Futures
We are raising money for:
Sumatran Orangutan Society (SOS) in memory of their Founder, Lucy Wisdom, who died just before Christmas
During the Boxing Day Tsunami Lucy and the workers of the Orangutan Information Centre in Medan organised three lorries to bring the first help to stricken villages. Then together with Greenpeace they hired a boat, loaded it with supplies and took it up the west coast of Aceh. Again, they were the first people to bring aid.
It's of special importance to me (Jane) because
I am very involved with orangutan and endangered species campaigning and awareness promotion
I have met Lucy Wisdom and know many of her colleagues who supported me during my hour on the Trafalgar Square plinth and I am running the shop this year at Covent garden Lyceum theatre for their annual comedy event - OrangAid
Because an old work friend of mine, Trish, was killed in the boxing day Tsunami
"Lucy Wisdom, Founder of the Sumatran Orangutan Society, died on 19th December 2009 after battling cancer for 15 years. Her endless dedication to orangutan and forest conservation was an inspiration to so many people, and we at SOS are proud to continue the work she started. She will be greatly missed. "
The long term aims of SOS are:
To seek sustainable solutions for the preservation of forest habitat
To assist local government in the protection and maintenance of protected areas
To promote orangutans as ambassadors for the rainforest ecosystem
To support the establishment of community education and empowerment programmes in Sumatra.
