Story
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2007 I virtually could not believe what I just heard – I always thought of myself a very fit and healthy person, obviously the cancer doesn’t care, its choice appears to be random.
The shock was so overwhelming that the day after the diagnoses I have lost my ability to taste and smell for a whole day whilst I was coming face to face with my own mortality.
Once I have acknowledged that my life might not be very long, that did not mean I needed to pack as many experiences as possible, because I have already had an amazing life, full of love and happiness; however, I was not going into battle without being prepared.
The starting point for my difficult journey was with the information offered by the Cancer Care charity – the very charity I am inviting you today to support.
Having that information available to me at that critical time empowered me by giving me deeper understanding of the condition and the difficult road ahead.
As we are aware, once we know what we are against it becomes easier to prepare the fight against it.
But most importantly I was not on my own - there was a great support behind me – support by people who I did not know and yet I was touched by their care and humanity.
That is what had inspired me to invite you, so we too can become members of that invisible army which quietly fights cancer on many different levels.
Many thanks for your donations
