Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our page! As most of you will already know we have decided to run the Bath Half marathon on March 6th for Lupus UK.
Lupus is a chronic and presently-incurable illness of the immune system, a condition in which the body's defence mechanism begins to attack itself through an excess of antibodies in the blood stream causing inflammation and damage in the joints, muscles and other organs.
It can result in muscle and organ failure, immobility and in the worst case fatality.
In 2002 Beth's grandfather was diagnosed with Lupus and sadly passed away after 4 months of suffering in hospital.
Lupus can adversely affect the lives of sufferers and their families, and influence relationships with friends and business colleagues.
Some 50,000 may have lupus in the UK and 90% of sufferers are female, mainly between the ages of 15 and 55.
LUPUS UK is the only national registered charity supporting people with Lupus. It is dedicated to funding research into the causes of lupus and towards the cure. Promoting better awareness, educating health professionals in lupus and its symptoms, assisting often lonely and frightened people towards their diagnosis all need vital funding help if we are to achieve these aims and other important targets. We greatly appreciate anything you can donate, it is a worthwhile cause that is close to our hearts.
Please remember to give gift aid if you are a tax payer, it is tax relief given to charities and will add 28% to your donation at no extra cost to you!
Big love to you all
Beth and Lucy
