After running two marathons and several half marathons without fundraising, I am finally raising money for charity!!
I'm running the Flora London Marathon the 13th of April and have chosen to raise money for Age Concern. I chose Age Concern because I believe that elderly people are a forgotten and under-appreciated segment of our society. The fast paced, global world we live in means that many elderly people are alone while their families take advantage of opportunities elsewhere.
In 2007 one person in six is aged 65 or over; by 2035 it will be more than one in four. Age Concern works to prevent poverty, promote age equality and enable older people to make full contributions to our economy, society and neighborhoods. The organisation helps older people in the UK by providing services such as advice and advocacy, day centres, lunch clubs and home home help. Age Concern also campaigns on a wide range of issues to safeguard the rights, wellbeing and dignity of older people.
Donating to Age Concern through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Age Concern England will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I really appreciate your support and hope to see you on the course on race day, April 13th!
