Story

"Come to the edge," he said.  They said, "We are afraid."  "Come to the edge," he said.  They came.  He pushed them.  And they flew."  - Guillaume Apollinaire

And how we flew, it was an amazing experience.  Heaps of fun & laughter during the instruction and preparation even though we took it all seriously to learn what we had to do. 30 minute flight to reach 10,000 feet, calm, focussed, the giggles while trying to stand up strapped tightly to the instructor. Shuffle to the open doorway, noise, wind, looking to the sky above, momentarily suspended, nothing beneath our feet then whoosh. Head first, tumbling spinning downwards, arms spreadout, horizontal float then the jerk as the chute opened.  Time to look at the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside below, fields, trees, objects becoming buildings, dots growing to people, smiling faces, feet up, bumping across the grass, more laughter - we made it!

As you know we did the Skydive to raise funds for the Hospice of St Francis, thanks to your fantastic support we have smashed our target to raise £10,000 and look forward to receiving the final pledges, (please don't forget if you haven't already donated - IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO DONATE).  The money you have donated will make such a difference for people who need the care and support the Hospice provides so a very big THANK YOU from the 3 of us, the staff and patients at St Fancis.  Taking part in this event has been a Huge and Challenging Adventure.  We loved the experience- what a rush and are delighted to have been able to support the Hospice of St Francis in this way.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Hospice Of St Francis (Berkhamsted) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
