Story
Sunday was a truly remarkable day - not just because I managed to run over 26 miles in 4 hours 46 minutes, but because of the spirit of the event. Such enthusiasm and good will from participants, spectators, officials, Police etc. To see the many causes people were running for was quite humbling and emotional. I spent alot of the race in tears, not just from hurting legs! There were best and worst moments, best was seeing my children shouting for me around the 20 mile mark where I was beginning to flag. Worst was the rain and hail coming out of Docklands, being in agony and knowing I still had 4 miles to run. But the crowd kept calling out my name and it spurred me on to the Finish.
I am delighted to say I have passed my target, having raised over £10,000 with all your help and still cheques are coming in. So thank you so much all of you.
Many of you will know the reason I wish to raise money for the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust. Depression and suicide are increasingly widespread in this country, particularly among young men. The statistics are awful: as you read this, four young people are out there feeling so bad they simply cannot live any longer and they will end their lives today. The CWMT funds research into the causes of depression and encourages people to seek help. They have a very good website and I urge you to look at it.
