Story

Did the Roses Way a cycle route from Coast to Coast from Morecambe to Bridlington on the first May Bank Holiday weekend.  170 mile ride on my road bike really good weather.  Ten friends and I made it across the country via a few coffee shops, a lovely traffic free route with epic scenery.

I hope to stay fit and healthy and would love your support as I cycle and run with friends in mind suffering with Bowel Cancer during 2014.  Later in the year really want a sub four hour marathon.......planning.......

2013 Events we plodded round.

Ran Coniston 14 on Saturday in beautiful cool autumn sunshine and got round in 1.56 about thirty seconds slower than last year, a lack of training I fear. Greg and Jane both came in undertwo hours also.  We all ran in our new BCR shirts with names printed on and got a few name checks on the way round which is always encouraging.

Ran the Great Longstone Fell race in Sept and also a 10k at night in Chatsworth Park. GNR in September.

Grindleford Gallop was on Saturday March 9th a 21 mile fell race around the Edges of Derbyshire. Lovely race though freezing cold and sleet and snow made it very tough. Had cramp in the last few miles so struggled home in 3.43.  Cycling to work off and on to keep fit at the moment, 18 miles each way........very hilly ride through Chatsworth Park.

2012 Events

Ran a second Great Longstone Fell Race last Friday on the 6th of September and got a pb by two minutes and it hurt. Then on Sunday 16th ran the Great North Run a great day and a new PB of 1.42.55 for the 13.1 miles in the drissle which was nice to run in and got to high five Greg Rutherford, Mo Farah and Ellie Simmonds the Olympians of 2012.

Edinburgh Marathon Done!! I made it round despite the heat in 4.08.31 slightly disappointed to miss out on sub four. Greg did 4.18.51 and Elisabeth did 2.14 and Molly 2.21 for the Half Marathon. Ran a great steady half marathon in 1.57 then the wheels came off abit due to the heat at mile 20 and had to dig deep, sad to see the goal slipping away but 50% of folk were walking by now, just so hot!! Nice sprint to the finish to pick up the biggest medal in the world. Time to have a rest for a week anyway!!

Thanks to getting through to the Asics 26.2 competition I had the opportunity to run the Coniston 14 in the Lake District. What a beautiful race round the Lake made famous by the Campbells and the water speed record attempts. Great atmosphere and what views recommend this race to all fantastic.

2011

Well I did the Great North Run (the biggest Half Marathon in the world,) again for the second time 13.1 miles on the 18th of September. What a great run, a real up and down course but hung on in there for a one hour and 50 minutes finish which was better than last year by 10 mins and only 26 seconds away from a pb for the Half Marathon distance for me. Quite warm until the last mile when it rained which was very welcome. Can you spot me in one of the pictures with the Red Arrows from last years GNR? Blue Bowel Cancer, light blue shirt not quite going as fast as the Red Arrows!! Very brave widow of the Red Arrows pilot who died started the race along with Mo Farrar. Did the Great Longstone Fell Race too the first Friday in the month, lovely sunny evening with great views on the EDGE.

2010

Birmingham Half Marathon on the 24th of October 2010 was done in 1.49 mins.49secs(on a cold sunny day) this was the highlight of the year along with the Great North Run in September and the 30th London Marathon 2010. The London Marathon on April 25th 2010. What a brilliant day, the crowd support was superb, the music and encouragement all the way round was unbelievable. At the start it was raining and then as we set off the cloud cleared and it was fair and a bit warm at times. I ran with Darth Vader, a Hulk in yellow (one for the ladies) and a guy in a pink dress, he got on the BBC so I listened in while he was being interviewed so I was on the highlights programme. The last four miles were tough but thanks to the cheers and the jelly babies I made it home in four hours and thirty five minutes. Thanks for your support once again. Love to go have gone a bit faster but thats for another day.............

We need to keep the money coming in to help the good people at Bowel & Cancer Research who do great work for people suffering with Bowel Cancer and also Crohn's disease. I have several friends and relatives who have suffered and are suffering at the moment with this and research is badly required to help reduce the suffering caused by these chronic illnesses. Keep fighting John, Colin and many others.

Please donate now, just a pound or whatever you can spare it will be appreciated very much. Thanks a million.
