Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sportsman's Charity Limited gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
In the dim and distant past (January 1994), Dave, Hamish, Simon and Andrew joined Sandhurst together and were posted to Inkerman Company, then Marne Company. The Army trained us to a peak of psychological and physical fitness and as soon as we were commissioned in 1994 the decline set in. Only Hamish remains serving, selflessly providing the umbrella of security under which Dave, Andrew and Simon are contentedly getting rather fat and wheezy. So what could be better than reliving those halcyon days of youth with a 29 mile jaunt in the Borders - for a variety of good causes?
The Poppyscotland Hearts & Heroes Challenge is a 29-mile walk / run for charity over the Southern Upland Way which takes place on Saturday 16th May this year. This is the first year that the event has been organised and given that we have a fine future behind us, promises to be an excellent challenge. Making the 29 miles relatively intact is the first target, if we manage that, we can look at how long it takes.
As with all of these events, the main purpose is, of course, to raise money for charity and the money raised from this event will be used to support the work of Poppyscotland, The Sportsman’s Charity and Hearts & Balls. All very worthy causes I'm sure you will agree. We appreciate that times are tough for everyone at the moment but charities are likely to suffer more than most, so donations & sponsorships are needed now more so than ever before. We would be extremely grateful for anything you are able to give.
Details of the event can be found at www.heartsandheroes.co.uk
