Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.I have chosen CLIC Sargent as my designated charity because of the support that they provide to children and their families who have been affected by cancer and leukaemia.
For those who know me, you will know why I have chosen CLIC but for those who don't; my cousin Dave became ill with leukaemia at a young age and later on during his life cancer. CLIC provided support not only for Dave but also for our family to which we found invaluable.
The money that I raise will go towards helping all children and young people with cancer and leukaemia live life to the full and support their families along the way.
So, this is where the fundraising journey starts along with my training which I will be starting during the summer months once the rugby season is over!
The trek to the base camp of the world’s highest mountain will take me through the lush valleys of Sagarmatha National Park, with time to explore its villages and monasteries. Eight of the world's fourteen peaks that exceed 8,000m in height are situated in the Nepalese Himalayas. The highest of them all, standing at 8,848m, is Mt. Everest.
The start of my 17day adventure begins at Lukla, where I will trek to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar. Where I will have time to acclimatise to the altitude, following the trail across numerous rivers. After that, the trek leads gradually uphill from Thyangboche, where I will reach a highpoint at Kalapathar (5,545m) with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers including Mt. Everest.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CLIC Sargent gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
