Parkinson's Disease is a personal disease for my family. I have members on both sides of the family that have been impacted by this disease. In July 2019, my mom was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. It has been hard watching her not be able to do things she loved as this disease has taken away her ability to do everyday things. Those who know her know that she loved to bake. She is not able to do those things anymore.
In addition to my mom, my aunt Laura Ellen was diagnosed around the time she was 40 years old. She lived with the disease until she passed away in April 2020. My great aunt Harriet also had Parkinson's.
These people are the reason I am challenging myself to raise money to fight Parkinson's Disease. Parkinson's really does get on your nerves.
This year alone 60,000 people will be diagnosed with Parkinsons disease, and the Parkinson's Foundation is here to help. That's why I'm joining the Parkinson's Champions team and raising funds and awareness while I challenge myself to run in my community. Every dollar I raise will help beat Parkinson's, we may be physically apart, but we can still be #Together4PD. Donate today!
