Story
Well we did it!!
It was a spectacular setting at the start with 40,000 runners lined up on the Champs Elysees and the sun rising above the buildings illuminating the Arc de Triomphe. It was a party festival with music blaring and an excited carnival feeling. Then the crowds where hushed for a minute silence in respect for the Japanese earthquake and then we were off.
Then came the hard bit, if someone had told me I would run my first marathon in 27 C and glaring sunshine I would say they were mad. Well it was and it was somewhat different from my training runs through the winter months in freezing conditions. It was so hot the organisers had arranged the Paris fire brigade to station themselves along the route and use the water cannons to cool us down.
THANK YOU so much for your support and sponsorship! I am so pleased to say we have managed to break the record for the highest sponsored single event on behalf of the the Nystagmus Network Charity. I know they really appriciate it!
