Story
Hey Everyone!
I am starting off 2008 with another madcap sporting event. No more corporate triathlons, Auckland Sky tower stair climbs or 24 hour running relays. This is the big kahuna! That's right the London 2008 Marathon on April 13. All 42.2km (or 26 miles) of pure running bliss - or something like that!
I am privileged to be a part of the Afghanaid charity team which means I am running my first marathon for a very worthwhile cause. I know this alone will keep me motivated through the cold, dark (and did I mention cold?) days of training ahead!
Afghanaid has been working in Afghanistan for over two decades focusing on long term sustainable development in rural areas. They facilitate a number of initiatives but as a female engineer two are very close to my heart - education for women and the development of major infrastructure such as roads and bridges ( I know I am such a geek!!!!). After the many years of war the Afghan people really need our help. Every dollar or pound you donate will go directly to Afghanaid to help the people who need it the most.
Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Afghanaid will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Afghanaid also have a great website at www.afghanaid.org.uk if you are interested in more information
So please sponsor me (and my blisters) now!
Many thanks for your support.
