Grand Total Update

Well I'm still alive despite last Sunday being the hottest day of the year so far, I'll probably never walk properly again but hey!

I also managed to beat my target time by 10 minutes thanks to my brother David setting a good pace from the start which only I managed to keep up, unlucky Dave, maybe next time!

Thanks to everyone who has given so generously, I'm pleased to report that we've managed to raise £1195 which is absolutely brilliant.

This was all for, amongst others - my Mom and Auntie Lily and in memory of Uncle Peter and Michael Smith, so again thank you all for your support and you'll be glad/sad to know that I'll be seeing you again next year!

Update 12th May - T minus 19 Days!!!

I've decided to update the page because everything is going so brilliantly that I intend to run with several people on my back - NOT!

My latest problem, some would say challenge, is the amount/size/quantity of the blisters.  I've taken a photo, but decency has stopped me posting it up, gross is the word!

Anyway more seriously I'm over 2 thirds of the way through training for race day, but have only raised half my target.  I thank all those that have given already, but I know ALL the rest of you intend to give generously, but just haven't had the time etc etc, blah blah blah....

I'm not doing this for the good of MY health, quite the opposite as it goes - this running thing isn't what I would call fun on many levels.

So stop whatever you are doing and donate to a very worthy cause....

Thanks again to everyone for the donations and the comments - all very amusing, especially that waffle about a Blues Shirt!  Put your money where your mouth is and I'm game for anything, but make it worthwhile!  Villa fans feel free to offer more to stop this awful tragedy!

No this isn't a rogue element of the Jamaican Bob Sled team, I really am just a fool, running!

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Mike Fleming and I was last involved in anything resembling exercise in circa 1994, seriously.

With this in mind an incentive to act was required and I know of no worthier cause than Cancer Research UK.  In this day and age, like myself, many of you will have close friends/relatives affected by this, as yet, still not fully controllable disease.

So I have temporarily lost all sanity and signed up for the Great Midlands Fun Run (seems like a contradiction but there you go).  It is an 8.5 mile circuit around Sutton Park and Town taking place on 31st May - yes thats right I have less than 70 days to get from a 15 year slumber to a finely honed athlete.  Sounds easy and if I can do it, you can cough up the cash!
