London Triathlon 2008

Having accepted my marathon days may be behind me I have been looking for a less knee crunching event and rashly signed up for the olympic distance for the London Triathlon. I have since realised just how rash as I have discovered just how bad my swimming is. To complete the 1500m swim will be achivement enough for me and I will hopefully then be able to relax and enjoy the 40k bike & 10k run.

Having spent eight years with the 4th Battalion Royal Green Jackets ( now 7th Rifles ) I have friends who are still serving and many of whom have recently completed operational tours of Iraq & Afghanistan. Luckily all have returned safely.

As we are all only to aware this is not always guaranteed and I want to raise money for those less fortunate.

Help for Heroes provide direct assistance to those injured in recent conflicts and I would ask you to dig deep for these men and women who are injured in the line of duty doing their job, One of the main targets for Help for Heroes is to build a new swimming pool with specialist physiotherapy facilities at the world renowned Headley Court Rehabiltation Centre for injured service personnel.
