I have been having some personal problems and as such my gym training has stopped but i am walking out with Robbie (my pooch) and recently picked up my walking boot from Blacks the outdoor specalists.  I also bought my sleeping back and a insulated ground mat from them- thanks to the staff at Blacks in Southampton for their help.

Those who know me know I have been unwell for some time suffering from stress and depression since 2002, this has been really bad with what i call black days - when you have black thoughts - but a little better with something to focus on with the trek - although this itself has pressure to deal with.  I would not be able to even begin to cope if I was not managed and guided by my lovely wife Sharon  - who really has enough to cope with on her own without me...

Somedays i just can't deal with anything in a rational manner.  Those days are 'under the duvet days' hiding from myself and everything else.  Happlily I have less of those days now - helping out at the MS Physio lunch helps - meeting nice people and having a fun lunch time

I have really been trying to lose weight and started January 2006.  I go to the Fitness first gym in Fareham (www.fitnessfirst.co.uk) and weighed in at 12 stone 9, today(11/03/06) I weighed in at 10st 10lb - a loss of 1st 13 lbs (27lbs or 12kg loss).  Thanks to Fitness First for great facilities - They have a deal where members of the Gosport and Fareham MS society can participate and go to the gym for a set rate during certain times.  Contact us for details 01329 231738

I continue to train there often wearing a bright orange MS tshirt

Sharon my wife has MS and together we are on the fund raising team for our local branch, the Gosport and Fareham branch of the Multiple Sclerosis society. http://www.gosportandfarehammssociety.org.uk We are lucky to have such great members, and many good friends. Our branch is a breath of fresh air, and we enjoy many social events. Sharon also helps voluntarily at Wessex Neurological unit, where  they offer information and guides to resources for MS sufferers.

I am hoping this challenge will be more than just to money the MS Trust and MS suffers and their families, by showing that support is heartfelt and forthcoming and that humanity still has a heart.
