Story
Thanks for getting this far.
After several years of sailing, and witnessing on several occasions the sterling work of the RNLI I thought it time to give something back to the volunteers who work so hard and risk so much to ensure sailors get home safely.
This website is the easiest way of sponsoring me - just put your details in and your money will go straight from your credit/debit card to the RNLI. UK taxpayers please also take time to fill in your details - this will add 28p for every pound you give. Those lucky to be higher-rate taxpayers please also remember to claim some extra money back on your tax return! The final really good news is that the Bank of England will match every pound you give penny for penny, so every little does indeed help.
Training progress to date has been steady. I started from a position at the start of January where the longest run I had ever done was school cross country of 3.5 miles. By the end of January I've slowly coaxed that up and have now at least have run one half-marathon (13 miles / 21 km). Given that rather poor starting position, I feel any time under 5 hours for the marathon is good, and anything under 4h30 is excellent.
Updates on my torturous training available if you desire. I do hope to see you soon.
Many thanks for your support.
